Artist-in-Residence Tony Villani has a long history in film media. For his residency at ArtMill he has created a number of video interviews for his new film project SOLDIERS: Six Stories, Six Wars, currently in post production, as well as dozens of new photographic images. These are part of the Secret Windows, Hidden Mirrors photographic installation exhibited at ArtMill opening July 29th, 2018, along with the project "Civic Women". 

Tony  is an award winning filmmaker with his projects SUSAN & THOMAS, A Ticket to Hollywood: Europeans in Los Angeles, 1925-56 - Prologue, and Roman Kosher. He has been an independent and freelance writer/producer/director in both Los Angeles and Rome. His films have been selected and honored by numerous festivals in the U.S. and Canada. Roman Kosher, his project on Roman Jewish cuisine, earned an official selection from the LA Jewish Film Festival while still in progress. His most recent completed efforts are An Interview with Peter Brook and Shindler's War, starring World War Two veteran Harry Shindler, a prologue to the SOLDIERS project. Work in progress includes the non fiction feature THE RIVER and THE OCEAN, currently under development and A Ticket to Hollywood: Europeans in Los Angeles, 1925-56, Part Two, in post production. Older work includes films on Marilyn Monroe, Frank Capra, and Rita Hayworth distributed by the A&E Network, Biography series.

Tony has written and directed a multilingual play, Welcome to Hollywood in Rome. He has been an actor in a number of motion pictures including Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York.
 
He is the Rome coordinator of the Sephardi Voices oral history project. He has published and presented papers in both the U.S. and Europe. As an International film and media expert, he has been quoted in the Los Angeles Times, ABC News, The International Herald Tribune, The Guardian, the BBC, The Times of London. 

Tony Villani has been in several one-man and group photo exhibitions in Los Angeles where he returns on a regular basis. He has been a film and photography instructor at the American University of Rome since 1998.
