Art Contest launched in Hawai'i

Tiffany Frias at the Department of Education in Hawai'i got a quick update on 5Gyres Institute's plastic pollution research in the Pacific with some gyre samples and ocean map painting...

Barbara Benish joined Malama Hawai'i to kick off our new Plastic Pollution Solutions contest with the Hawai'i Board of Education, for Safe Planet. Educational theorist June Gorman joined Benish on some interviews, including one at the University of Hawai'i, where they spoke on Sustainable Education and preparations for the UN Rio + 20 Summit, plastic pollution in the oceanic gyres, and engaging students in local community activism.
