Lake effect

Part I

In preparation for this residency, I had a set of ideas on what I would potentially explore; leaving open spaces for the surroundings to impact my practice.  In some ways, you approach a residency blindly - you can never fully be prepared for what will happen or how it will impact you.  It gives you freedom to dig deep, open your senses and create an imbalance.  This brings me to the lake effect....Červený rybník ......

I didn’t know this magical lake would become part of my daily folk life at the Mill.  I would wake up and instantly go to the lake to witness the changes that had occurred during night - there were many - the lake took on my patterns about living a folk life - it’s rhythms.  Červený rybník  became a gage to my new set of movements; placing seasons and time frames in a different set of sequences.  It started in the Fall with the ritual act to drain the lake in preparation for gathering the carp......

In this series of photographs, I documented the lake’s affect on its surroundings.....
