Horažďovice

Horažd'ovice is our sweet little local "main" town, population about 6000. It's 12 kilometers from the Mill, on the main highway running from Klatovy to Strakonice. She has an old history, dating back to Celtic times, which the local museum, Městské muzeum Horažďovice documents in some wonderful exhibitions.  During Renaissance times, pearls and gold were both collected from the local Otava River, which serenely passes through the town. Biking, hiking the local mountains, and river rafting are all popular sports in this entryway to the Šumava region. Contemporary art can be seen at the only regional art gallery, our very own, Galerie Califia.
