Lewis Watts arriving next week

Professor Watts will be at ArtMill in person to install his work for the show, "I'M/MIGRATION". Meet the artist on July 22 at the opening, Saturday afternoon 13:30!

Watts is a photographer, archivist/curator and Professor Emeritus of Art at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His works mostly focus on the cultural landscape in the communities occupied by the people of African descent. Watts is the author of books such as New Orleans Suite: Music and Culture in Transition and Harlem of the West: The San Francisco Fillmore Jazz Era. His works have been exhibited in a number of galleries. Currently, Watts is busy with his photographic projects. One of them deals with the migration throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This is an extension of his earlier work on the African-American migration in the 20th century. Another project that he is working on is called “The Black Presence in France.” His work is currently showing in San Francisco at Rena Bransten Gallery
