WHAT \ U.N. Safe Planet Campaign \ Art Contests
Following on the success of the Hawaiian Art Contest, Safe Planet is reaching out to the 110,000 students in the Vancouver School District starting in December, 2011 for a 9-month contest. The Vancouver Contest will be focused on designing inspiring images for change along the general themes of Safe Planet: from Climate Change to Plastic Pollution. The winners in British Columbia will get to see their design produced and manufactured with local eco-friendly companies like Ethical Profiling in Vancouver, with proceeds going to the Safe Planet Campaign. A Scholarship for ArtMill's summer camp will go to the 1st place winner.Organized by Safe Planet friend Howard Baral and Art Dialogue, this contest promises to have the largest outreach yet for youth on important issues of responsibility on hazardous chemicals and waste.

Calling all SAFE PLANET HEROES, YOUNG ARTISTS and IMAGINATIVE STUDENTS from across Vancouver to create a work of art that demonstrates the possibilities of life in a world without hazardous chemicals and wastes.
Some of the environmental and human health problems we face in the world today include single-use plastics currently damaging our oceans, toxic emissions polluting the air we breathe, the appearance of unwanted chemical pesticides in the food we eat. What are your solutions to these problems? Can you create a strong image that represents a truly, SAFE PLANET, free of hazardous chemicals and wastes?
All two-dimensional media are welcomed: photographs, montage, paintings, drawings or computer graphics. Prizes will be awarded for multiple winners in 3 categories: Grades K-3, Grades 4-7 and Grades 8 - 12. An additional prize will be awarded to the school of each of the winners. The winning designs will be printed on a new Safe Planet sustainable carry-bag to be sold at eco-friendly outlets in British Colombia.
